Abstract
This study investigates the application of digital textile technology in enhancing the functional and experiential qualities of tourism-related textile products. A comparative experiment was designed to quantify the performance of digitally produced textiles against those made with traditional techniques. The experimental group’s products, including T-shirts and scarves from materials like cotton poplin and silk crepe de chine, were created using a suite of digital methods. These methods included 3D modeling for pattern draping simulation, ultra-high-resolution (1440 dpi) digital textile printing with precise color management, and the integration of smart textile features such as thermochromic inks that enable interactive color changes. The control group’s products were made using conventional four-color screen printing and manual embroidery. Performance was evaluated across seven dimensions using eye-tracking, physiological monitoring, and questionnaires. The results showed that digitally produced textiles were superior across all key indicators (p < 0.001). Notably, the accuracy of cultural element reproduction in the textile patterns increased by 24.4 percentage points, and consumer purchase intention rose from 37.5% to 62.0%. Eye-tracking data also indicated that the high fidelity of digital printing led to more efficient visual information processing by users. This research demonstrates that advanced digital textile printing and smart textile technologies can significantly improve the communicative effectiveness and commercial value of textile products, providing new pathways for innovation in textile design and manufacturing.
